Letter From The President - Fall 2017

West Linn Select Basketball Community,

Wow!  Summer of 2017 seemed to have lasted just slightly longer than the eclipse.  Hard to believe we've already got 1 week of school behind us going into Labor Day weekend.   As strange as it sounds (as it's 90degrees outside), basketball season is right around the corner. Registration is now open on the website and signs will be posted at each of the elementary & middle schools soon.  Early registration helps us plan more effective tryouts.

Registration:

We are going to require payment (or payment plan set up) at the time registration. Anyone who tries out and doesn’t get selected for a team, a full refund of registration fees will be processed promptly. Fees for 2017-2018 season will be $425 for registration prior to Oct 13th for 5th - 8th grade boys; October 20th for 4th grade boys; and October 23rd for girls. Registrations after these dates will be $450.  Our fees have increased this year due to the increasing prices of tournaments.

Lion League (Boys 4th–8th Grade)

Dates for Lion League: 4 Sundays – Sept 17th, 24th, Oct 1st, Oct 8th.   (4th-6th grade @ 6pm-7pm.   7th-8th grade @ 7pm-8pm)

PLEASE NOTE:   September 17th, 24th and October 1st will be at Rosemont.   October 8th will be at the High School.

TRYOUTS:

Click here for the tryout schedule for the 2017-2018 season.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS:

NIGHT 1

- Registration confirmation and try-out # assignment. Each of the players will receive numbers to pin on their shorts during both nights of try-outs. It’s important to keep track of the numbers – we will post teams by #, not by name.

- If a player is not registered, we will have a live laptop available for registration. It is our goal that 100% of the players are registered before entering try-outs.

 - We will have uniforms for sizing and will ask all players to try on uniforms prior to entering the gym.

- Once the players are in the gym and try-outs begin, Parents will be asked to leave the gym. There will be a meeting in the lobby the first night of try-outs outlining the program, Varsity Coach Tyler Toney will speak briefly, and there will be general Q&A.

Night 2

Players can head straight to the gym

Coaches

- Coach Registration is open. Anyone thinking about coaching this season can reach out to me personally, or other board members to express interest & discuss program, time commitment, etc.

- We will be talking more with potential coaches leading up to try-outs and during the try-outs

- As Always, please check our website for updated communications (www.wlhoops.com).

Thank you Keary Lee – on behalf of West Linn Select Basketball Board
